About Us
Expertise You Can Trust
Hello! We’re Dawn and Allan, and we created Maison Bonhomie to share decades of professional food and wine knowledge—with a side of joie de vivre.
Dawn is a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef who spent years managing large catering operations and launching restaurants in London. Allan holds three Wine & Spirit Education Trust diplomas and managed a French wine shop in central London. Together, we ran our own contract catering company for 12 years before trading London for the vineyards of Southwest France.
Our Philosophy
At Maison Bonhomie, we believe in honest, natural cooking. We make almost everything from scratch—sauces, stocks, dressings, and pastries—using fresh, seasonal ingredients and Superfoods that nourish the body and elevate everyday meals.
Living in wine country, we enjoy a tipple and share stories, information, and recipes in our Drinks section. We aim for balance and moderation in what we eat and drink and believe a regular exercise routine helps support a harmonious lifestyle – whether a gentle stroll through the vineyards, a pilates or tai chi class, keeping our bodies moving supports a harmonious lifestyle and puts a smile on our faces 🙂
What We Share
Recipes: Every recipe on our site is tested and perfected by us. We don’t copy and paste. From Superfoods like grains, beans, and legumes to local meats and fish, we show you how easy it is to eat fresh foods using natural ingredients that not only are super good for you, but also look and taste fantastic.
Wine & Drinks: All things wine and drink; from the obvious to the obscure, along with cocktail recipes and everything in between
Travel: Travel keeps one curious, creative, and energized at any stage of life. We share travel stories and ideas to spark your own explorations and to inspire new experiences.
Thank you for joining us on the Adventure

The Vision for Maison Bonhomie
Our renovations are moving forward—albeit at a pace more French than we first anticipated! But Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither, it seems, is a guesthouse in the Languedoc. The vision, however, is truly coming to life, and the design previews shown here offer a glimpse of the retreat we’re creating for you.
Once complete, Maison Bonhomie will feature three beautifully appointed chambres d’hôtes, each with a private ensuite bathroom and its own private terrace. We’ve designed these outdoor spaces with you in mind—because sometimes the best part of the day is that first coffee in the morning sun, or an evening apéritif as the light softens over the vineyards.
From the pool area, terraces and gardens, you’ll enjoy truly spectacular mountain and vineyard views that change with the seasons.
We’re now working towards an Autumn 2026 opening—perfectly timed for the grape harvest and the local Blanquette wine celebrations, when the region comes alive with food, music and that particular joie de vivre the French do so well.
In the meantime, we continue sourcing regional ingredients and developing menus that celebrate the very best of our terroir. Your stay will be a fully curated experience, including breakfast, dinner, and drinks—leaving you free to immerse yourself in the spirit of this fabulous corner of France.
Please enjoy our website. we look forward to welcoming you in person, here at Maison Bonhomie
