Amaretto Gin Sour

Amaretto Gin Sour
An Amaretto Gin Sour is a brilliantly simple  that can be enjoyed any time of year; however, for me, it’s difficult to separate the sweet, praline-like goodness of Amaretto from the festive season.
Gin also feels wonderfully Christmassy, with its clean, sharp, zesty botanicals reminding you of a crisp winter’s morning surrounded by snow-covered pines.
A lot of Christmas-themed cocktails get full coverage this time of year — and rightly so — but one thing they almost always share is their underlying reliance on excessive sweetness.
The Amaretto Gin Sour embodies everything that’s wonderful about the festive season without becoming just another sickly-sweet stomach-filler.
The Amaretto Gin Sour has everything in its favour: it’s easy to make, easy to drink, and delivers that sweet, praline-like Christmas feel with alpine freshness and a medicinal burst of fresh lemon juice.
Amaretto Gin Sour Ingredients
- 40 ml London Dry Gin
- 30 ml Amaretto
- 30 ml fresh lemon juice
- 15 ml simple syrup
- 1 egg white
- 2 drops Angostura bitters
Instructions:
- Add all ingredients to your shaker and dry shake (no ice) to aerate the egg white.
- Add four ice cubes and shake again until the shaker is cold (about 20 seconds).
- Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
- Garnish with a lemon twist.
Dry shake note: When using egg whites in a cocktail, always shake without ice first to create that fluffy texture and velvety finish.
